Experimental Psychopathology and Affective Neuroscience

Welcome to the EPAN website

The EPAN lab is part of the Experimental Psychopathology and Treatment (EPT) research program of the Behavioural Science Institute, Radboud University Nijmegen. We study emotion regulation and motivational behavior in healthy individuals and in a wide range of psychopathologies, including affective, somatoform and antisocial disorders.

We are particularly interested in hormone-brain interactions controlling normal versus maladaptive forms of emotional and motivational behavior.

Our aims

Our principal aim is to gain insight into the psychoneuroendocrinology of altered motivational behavior associated with psychopathology. In addition, we test ways of manipulating and improving motivational behavior.

Our methods

We apply multiple neuroscience techniques (fMRI, EEG, TMS) in combination with psychic challenges or hormone administration to study psychopathologies such as social phobia.
